AGCSA Award for Academic Achievement

In Australia, PGG Wrightson Turf are sponsors of the AGCSA Award for Academic Achievement where Turf Diploma students are encouraged and rewarded for their commitment to higher studies and excellence in education. Recognising a gap in the annual awards programme, the AGCSA Award for Academic Achievement, presented in association with PGG Wrightson Turf, aims to recognise individuals for their commitment to persue further turf management studies.  It was first bestowed at the 2010 Australian Turfgrass Conference on the Golf Coast and is presented to an individual who has completed and excelled in the Diploma of Sports Turf Management course.

Selection Criteria and Nominations
Nominees must be currently employed in the Australian turf industry and have completed the Diploma of Sports Turf Management in the year immediately preceeding the year in which the award would be presented. Finalist nominations will only be accepted from institutions that offer the AHC51010 Diploma of Sports Turf Management and must be accompanied by a 500 word letter of recommendation. All valid nominations will be judged individually by members of the award subcommittee who will consider the following criteria:

  • Why the nominee considers on-going education to be important;
  • How their organisation benefits from them undertaking additional education;
  • What their future ambitions in the turf industry are and why; and
  • The calibre of one piece of project work conducted during their studies.
